Rules
Equipment:
-We
use theHarvard Super Play Rod Hockey made byEscalade Sports.
-Cooking timers will be used to clock 6 minute games
Game Play:
-Competitors will be assigned to a table. Players may not
choose which table to use
-The lower
seed competitor will be the home team.
-The home team player decides which team (i.e. which side of the
table) he/she will use
-Play begins with a face-off at center ice
-Center players must have their sticks outside of the center circle
before the puck is dropped.
-If the puck leaves the ice a face-off will be held at the face-off
circle nearest to where the puck left the playing surface
-A goal may not be scored within 3 seconds of a face-off.
-The center player may not score directly after a center face-off. The puck must be
touched by at least one other player (from either team).
-If the puck goes in a goal, but bounces out - no goal is awarded
and play continues
-A player intentionally wasting time (according to the scorekeeper)
will be penalized - the opponent will get a penalty shot.
Repeated infringements (more than two times) will result in goals
being awarded instead of penalty shots
-Players are not allowed to slam, tilt or jolt the game in a manner
that puts the puck into the opponent's goal. This action will
disallow a goal even if the goal would have gone in without the
slamming.
Game Length:
-Games
will be 6 minutes in length as kept by the scorekeeper
-The clock will continue running when a goal is scored or the puck
leaves the ice.
-If the puck leaves the ice and cannot be found a replacement puck
will be used. At the scorekeeper's discretion the clock may be
stopped for a lost puck.
-The clock will be stopped to fix any equipment. In that case
the play will resume with a face-off at the nearest face-off circle.
-The person with the highest score at the end of the game is the
winner
-If the score is tied after regulation play a penalty shoot-out will
determine the winner
Penalty Shoot-outs:
-In
the event of a tie at the end of regulation time, a penalty
shoot-out will determine the winner
-The center for the visiting team will begin with the puck behind
the blue line
-Both players must wait for the scorekeeper to say "go"
-The center may bring the puck up the ice, or shoot right away
-The center only gets one shot, and may not at any time bring the
puck back toward his/her own goal
-The puck must stay in the net for the goal to count
-Each player gets 5 shots alternating offense and defense
-At the end of 5 shots each, the player with the most goals is the
winner
-If the score is still tied, players alternate 1 shot each in sudden
death rounds
